FOURTH OF JULY ICE CREAM SANDWICHES

Monday, July 3, 2017

Hello Hello and Happy Fourth of July Eve! Every year for the last ten years I have spent the 4th at camp, however, this year I'm going to be spending it here, soaking up the sun in good ol' RVA. Honestly our plans are rough, but for whatever may happen tomorrow, I'm excited :) Hopefully I'll see at least some fireworks somewhere. Anyway, today I'm sharing with you the worlds easiest way to cool down from the heat this summer, ICE CREAM! And better yet, ICE CREAM SANDWICHES! I love ice cream sandwiches, it's actually my preferred mode of ice cream transportation from plate to mouth. Preparing them is pretty self explanatory, but I'll walk you through it regardless...
FIRST: bake cookies, any kind of cookie, preferably chocolate chip
SECOND: allow cookies to COMPLETELY cool, and put ice cream of your choice, preferably vanilla, on one cookie. Put second cookie on top of that cookie, creating a sandwich
THIRD: sprinkle sprinkles along ice cream edges for festive fun times
FOURTH: enjoy.

ANDDDD that's it! Easy as pie, or should I say, easy as ice cream sandwiches... I should be a comedian, oh man. I hope you stay cool on your happy happy holiday, have so much fun and stay safe! xo, O

EASTER BUNNY RICE KRISPIE TREATS!

Monday, April 10, 2017

Hey everyone! Hope your Monday has been great so far and your week is off to a great start!! Mine certainly was since I made these super cute bunny rice krispie treats! In honor of Easter coming up, I thought I'd share a few Easter and spring time themed posts with you guys this week leading up to Sunday :) SO! To start things off, I'm sharing this super easy SUPER cute treat! As you all know, I live in a dorm, so I don't have an oven, a stove, or anything of that sort, however! These are dorm friendly *woohoo!* And easy as pie! Let's get started why don't we :)
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Fruity Pebbles
Rice Krispies
Marshmallows

Since I'm on a budget I chose what I could find in the store brand cheaper alternative,

Oh, and once I got home I realized the rice krispie treat recipe calls for 3 tablespoons of butter... which I didn't use at all! But HEY! They turned out just fine!
HERE'S HOW TO DO IT: (or at least... how I did it...)

pour some cereal into a large container (bowl is preferable, but when you don't have a kitchen, why have big bowls???)

microwave half an average cereal bowl size full of mini mallows, only half full because they do expand in the microwave and you don't want things getting too crazy!

scoop mallows into cereal and MIX!
Okay okay okay.... so this is the hard part, or shall I say the really really STICKY part! the spoon wasn't really working too well so I actually just used my hands to mix it all in! For the amount of cereal I poured in I did three or so bowls of mallows :)

THEN! Spread the goopy krispie mix onto a pan with FOIL on it. If you cut a large piece of foil and curl it around the edges, it will be easier to lift. The foil will help when you are cutting them, you can flip it over and they will be completely flat :)

Now now now, I know you are eager to eat them! And if you're anything like me and used your hands to mix it all up, I'm sure you've eaten some straight off your hands! (which please clean before making these! It's not cool to contaminate your treats!!!) BUT WAIT! You must let them COMPLETELY harden before cutting! I left them about two hours before I did anything, and that was perfect!

Lastly! Peel foil off of the pan and flip it upside down, so now the krispies are flat on the pan and the foil is facing up! Remove the foil to reveal a smooth(-ish) krispie surface ready to cut out bunnies!!! And with any knife of your choosing, cut out some bunnies, or eggs, or really whatever strikes your fancy! And if you're feeling extra cute, add a little marshmallow on the bunny to look like a tail :)
And that's it! Easy and totally not messy at all (that is a lie)! I really hope you guys like these as much as I do :) They were almost too cute to eat, but then I remembered how good they tasted off my hands so obvi they were even BETTER in bunny form!!!

Comment down below some of your favorite Easter traditions!! See ya next time :) xo, O

SUNFLOWER CUPCAKES!

Tuesday, March 28, 2017

Hello SpringBabes! In honor of spring time, I made these delish sunflower cupcakes that are SO SO easy to make and even BETTER to eat! All you need is four ingredients, a cupcake pan and holders and an oven, I think you can handle that right? Right!! Let's get cooking!!
HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED:
cake mix +ingredients to make that
vanilla frosting
yellow + green food coloring
oreos
HERE'S HOW TO DO IT:
bake your cupcakes! I did strawberry just because that is my favorite flavor and the pink is so so cute!

Once totally cooled, split Oreos in half and place in the center of the cupcakes

Mix in two bowls, almost all frosting and yellow coloring for petals, and some frosting and green coloring for leaves

Pipe on one row on the outside of yellow for the first row of petals, and then right up to the Oreo, but not over the Oreo, pipe another layer of yellow, either over top or in between, pipe out the green frosting for the leaves.
AND THAT'S LITERALLY IT! I'm not any kind of expert cake decorator, like what so ever... And I REALLY don't know why SCAD doesn't have that at least as a minor, because it's a serious art, and not an easy one at that! Come on SCAD, step it up...

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy these! Be warned though, with all the frosting and what not, the Oreo can get somewhat soggy after a few days, so eat them up quickly :) And of COURSE, Enjoy!!!!! Let me know if you make them what you think by tagging me on Instagram, emailing me or really WHATEVER!

SUPER EASY CHOCOLATE CHIP BANANA BREAD

Wednesday, March 22, 2017

Good morning loves! Lately I have been craving banana bread like no other, so it was sort of perfect when I realized we had these neglected bananas laying around our kitchen!! The best thing about this recipe for me was that I didn't even have to leave my house for a single thing! It was all right here :) (okay that's kind of a lie, I had to borrow the pan from a neighbor... but anyway...) It's so so easy to make and omg, SO DELISH! Okay, what are we waiting for! Let's get started!
HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED:
2-3 rather ripe bananas, peeled (ripe enough to be super mushy and gooey)
1/3 cup of melted butter
1 teaspoon of baking soda
pinch of salt
3/4 cup of sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
AND HERE'S HOW TO DO IT:
preheat the oven to 350ºF (175ºC), and butter a 4x8inch loaf pan

in a mixing bowl, mix together butter, baking soda, salt, sugar, vanilla extract, flour and the already beaten egg.

do your best to squish bananas while they are still in the peel! This will reduce mashing with a fork, which is harder than it looks.

mix everything together until you've reached about the constancy pictured below
adding chocolate chips is optional, I did and I don't regret it... just saying, it's delicious.
pour the batter into your prepared pan and bake for 50 minutes to an hour, I did mine for 50 just fine, but every oven is different. Know your oven, connect with your oven, BE YOUR OVEN!
And there you have it!!! A beautiful loaf of your very own!! I should say, "once you remove it from the oven, set and let cool for at least 30 minutes to an hour before removing it from the pan and slicing..." but who am I kidding, I'm impatient as heck and dug right in... But hey! It's better warm anyway!

I really hope you all enjoy this recipe as much as I do! It only took about ten minutes to prep and I'm super pleased with how it turned out! Let me know what you think, if and when you try this!

Have a fantastic Wednesday! xo, O
